About this JSON formatter
JSON is a text format for exchanging structured data. It appears in API responses, configuration files, and exported records. Indentation makes nested objects and arrays easier to inspect without manually adding whitespace.
This JSON formatter checks syntax before producing output. Invalid input does not produce a partial result. Check that every opening bracket has a matching closing bracket, object keys use double quotes, and the final item in an object or array has no trailing comma. Comments are not part of standard JSON.
The formatter accepts a top-level object, array, string, number, boolean, or null. It uses the browser’s native JSON parser rather than executing the input. HTML inside a JSON string stays text.
Limits and precision
Input is limited to one million characters to keep this browser-based tool responsive. Formatting uses JavaScript numbers, so integers above 9,007,199,254,740,991 and highly precise decimals may lose precision. Extremely large exponents can become null in the output. Duplicate keys retain only their last value. Numeric-looking object keys may be reordered, and numeric notation can change. Do not treat this tool as a lossless editor or a JSON Schema validator. Keep a copy of the original data.
Privacy
All processing is local. Your input is not uploaded or saved by ToolsLodge. Clearing the fields removes it from the tool; it does not clear anything you have already copied to your clipboard.
